Production Assistant - Equipment Manufacturing
About the Role
We are an established but growing custom equipment manufacturing company seeking a Production Assistant to support our Production Manager and shop-floor operations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being both organized and hands-on—working closely with production, operations, and engineering to keep work flowing efficiently and the floor well supported.
The Production Assistant plays a key role in production coordination, floor organization, documentation, and communication between teams.
What You’ll Do
Production & Administrative Support
- Assist the Production Manager with day-to-day administrative tasks
- Manage production documentation including travelers, drawings, and photos of completed projects
- Audit travelers and other production documents for accuracy and completeness
- Interface with operations and production teams to communicate job status and priorities
- Expedite materials, supplies, and components that are holding up production
Production Floor Organization & Support
- Organize and support 5S activities on the production floor
- Work with production teams and project owners to proactively clean up and organize carts
- Keep floor supplies organized and at appropriate inventory levels, including wire, tools, and regularly used materials
- Own the creation and maintenance of tags and labels used on the production floor
Engineering Alignment
- Support engineering by placing redline notifications (glyphs) in the PDM system when changes are identified on the production floor
- Work closely with engineering to resolve labeling, tagging, or documentation issues that arise during production
Occasional Hands-On Support
- Print wire labels
- Perform basic cable assembly
- Provide light fabrication or assembly assistance as needed
What We’re Looking For
- 1–3 years of experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Prior experience as an assembly worker is a plus
- Expeditor or materials coordination experience is a plus
