AeroSpec, Inc. | Paid, Year-Round Internship

Are you an Industrial Engineering student who enjoys organizing, solving problems, and making things work better? Do you like working with people, keeping activities moving, and seeing the results of your efforts?

At AeroSpec, you'll gain hands-on experience in a company that designs and builds advanced custom manufacturing equipment and automated systems. You'll work alongside experienced engineers, quality specialists, and manufacturing professionals while helping improve the way work gets done.

A central part of your role will be Visual Management—using visual tools, daily team meetings, and performance tracking to make work priorities, progress, and problems immediately visible. You'll help teams stay coordinated, identify obstacles, and take timely action to keep work moving.

We're especially interested in freshmen and sophomores who are eager to learn, take initiative, and grow with us over multiple years.

What You'll Do

Visual Management & Team Coordination
  • Help organize and maintain visual management boards that clearly display work status, schedules, priorities, assignments, and outstanding issues.
  • Assist in preparing for and conducting daily stand-up meetings, helping teams review progress, identify obstacles, and establish priorities.
  • Monitor workflow and commitments, identify overdue activities, and proactively follow up with responsible team members.
  • Keep visual information accurate and current so teams and managers can quickly recognize what is on schedule, what is falling behind, and where action is needed.
  • Help develop and improve visual tools, including status boards, schedules, performance charts, checklists, and simple dashboards.
  • Learn how effective Visual Management promotes communication, accountability, problem-solving, and continuous improvement across departments.
Quality & Process Control
  • Help track inspection activities, quality issues, rework, and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate the movement of parts and documentation through quality inspection.
  • Assist in maintaining quality records, inspection logs, and status reports.
  • Learn how quality standards and process controls help ensure reliable manufacturing results.
Operations & Workflow Coordination
  • Track materials, machined parts, and work orders as they move through the company.
  • Work with operations, quality and production personnel to identify delays and resolve outstanding issues.
  • Help coordinate priorities and improve communication between departments.
  • Follow up on commitments to keep work moving efficiently.

What We're Looking For
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
  • Freshman or sophomore standing preferred, with at least two full academic years remaining before graduation.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and an interest in how things work.
  • Comfortable communicating with people and following up on assignments.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and common computer applications.
  • Enthusiasm for manufacturing, quality, operations, and continuous improvement.

What You'll Gain
  • Visual Management & Leadership Experience: Learn how leading manufacturing organizations use visual tools, daily team meetings, and performance measures to coordinate work, identify problems, drive accountability, and improve results. Gain confidence helping teams stay focused and moving forward.
  • Real Engineering Experience: See how advanced custom equipment moves through manufacturing, assembly, integration, and testing.
  • Practical Problem-Solving Skills: Learn how to identify workflow problems, track performance, and contribute to improvements.
  • Cross-Functional Exposure: Work with engineers, machinists, quality inspectors, purchasing professionals, and production technicians.
  • Professional Development: Build confidence, communication skills, and leadership potential through meaningful responsibilities and mentorship.
  • Room to Grow: As your education and experience progress, take on increasingly challenging assignments in process analysis, quality improvement, and industrial engineering.

Internship Schedule & Requirements
This is a paid, year-round internship designed to complement your engineering education and provide meaningful professional development over multiple years.
  • School Year: Part-time, minimum 20–24 hours per week.
  • Summer: Part-time to full-time, depending on availability and company needs.
  • Duration: Must have at least two full academic years remaining before graduation.
  • Work Location: Primarily on-site, working directly with our Operations, Quality, Engineering, and Production teams.
  • Reports To: Quality Manager.
